Dreamlinux is a
Brazilian Distribution based on Debian Linux ( This means it takes
advantage of Debian's best features and adds its own modern development
tools, system scripts and applications ) . It can boot as a live CD ,
from a FLASH Drive or either be installed on a Hard Drive. The
Distribution's GUI is similar to MAC OS X , with a centered animated
toolbar. Dreamlinux is available in both Portuguese and English.
Dreamlinux 2.2 MM GL Edition (2007)
The Linux of our Dreams ( Dreamlinux ) provides Beryl-AIGLX by default,
which can be utilized after the initial installation. One of its key
features is its ability to configure AIGLX for NVIDIA and ATI cards
automatically. Dreamlinux runs with Xfce as the default window manager,
and it is full of style cues from the Mac OS X environment. It comes
with a simple set of applications : OpenOffice.org 2.0.4, Firefox 1.5,
Icedove, and aMSN.
Dreamlinux 3.0 (2008)
The new version 3.0 features a complete redesign and is the current
version of the Distribution. New architecture called Flexiboost and
integrated functions built in the Ruby programming language. That
allows the co-existence of two (or more) separate window managers
(currently Gnome and Xfce), sharing the same customized appearance.
Both working environment share all the applications available.
Dreamlinux has been described as one of the most Mac-like Linux desktop
distributions. New applications are WineHQ + Wine Doors , ndiswrapper
module ( makes Windows drivers usable under Linux ) , Pidgin instant
messenger , New Avant Window Manager themes and AWN-Dock ( animated
toolbar MAC OSX like ). Basicly all the packages are updated!
Dreamlinux 3.5 (2009)
This is just an update to the original 3.0 desktop version! It features
Linux kernel 2.6.28.5 and FXCE desktop by default but can be configured
to GNOME Desktop ( added as an additional module). According to the
Official Website KDE , Fluxbox will be available shorty.
