Kororaa Linux

Kororaa is a pre-configured binary install method for Gentoo Linux, complete with a fully automated dialog installer. It comes with a pre-configured KDE system and, being based on Gentoo, it sports the full power of portage and other great features. It takes the best open source packages and combines them into one very powerful and quick Linux desktop. Kororaa is designed to have programs to support a wide range of everyday tasks like email, web browsing, instant messaging, and multimedia support for photos, videos, TV, music, burning, etc. Kororaa was started by Christopher Smart as a method to quickly reproduce a Gentoo Linux installation on multiple desktop machines. Chris also intended that Kororaa be used to quickly demonstrate the power of Gentoo Linux to users critical of 'compile times.' On November 7, 2007, Chris announced that he was discontinuing his work on the project, and that there would be no new versions of Kororaa. The introduction of the Kororaa XGL Live CD was intended to demonstrate the capabilities of Novell's Xgl and Compiz.
 Live CD
In 2006 the first Kororaa Live CD is released, with support for NVIDIA , ATI and Intel Graphic Cards. The latest version (0.3) comes with KDE and GNOME. A couple months later unnamed kernel developer sends e-mail to Smart claiming that fgrlx and NVIDIA drivers are violation of teh GPL. That cause Smart to remove the Live CD from his Web Site. A couple months later he release the Live CD again but with limited ATI and NVIDIA graphic card support.
 Development Ended
On 7 Nov 2007 Smart announced that the development of Kororaa will be ended, because of the following reasong :
-- Sabayon Linux already serves a purpose as a binary Gentoo distribution
-- Gentoo already comes with a GUI installer
-- Compiz is already installed on most desktop distributions by default
-- Kororaa couldn't compete with other distributions which include non-free drivers by default.
-- the weight of the project was too much for a single developer.
